Continue reading »]]> Route 39 organised the silent auction at the Manchester City Supporters Club and City in the Community annual dinner at the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City’s Football Development Executive Patrick Vieira was the guest of honour at the event which raised funds for the Connell Awards, a charity which supports children in East Manchester. City legends Francis Lee, Uwe Rosler and Shaun Goater took part in a question and answer session with Fred Eyre.

Former City star Gary Owen hosted the event which was attended by many former stars including Mike Summerbee, Joe Corrigan, Joe Royle, Colin Hendry, Tommy Booth, Mike Sheron, Neil Pointon, Jeff Whitley and Andy Morrison.

Continue reading »]]> Andy Gray, John Richards and Ken Hibbitt, Wolves League Cup goal scorers from the 1974 and 1980 finals were the special guest at a Route 39 dinner at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill. The three Wolves legends were interviewed on stage by BBC Radio WM presenter Paul Franks and reminisced about the two finals, their time together at Wolves and the current situation at the club. Comedian Bob Webb entertained the guests at the dinner with his excellent routine. Members of the two squads, Phil Parkes, Geoff Palmer, John McAlle, Dave Wagstaffe, Barry Powell, Willie Carr, Mel Eves and Colin Brazier were also in attendance on the night as was the League Cup trophy. Proceeds from the auction on the evening went to Compton Hospice.

Continue reading »]]> Liverpool League and Cup double winners Ian Rush and Jan Molby were the special guests at a Route 39 sporting dinner at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill. The Liverpool Legends were joined on stage by BBC Radio WM presenter Paul Franks for a question and answer session and they revealed details of the famous Anfield ‘Boot Room’. Comedian Mike Farrell was also on hand to entertain the audience.

The auction that included shirts signed by Luis Suarez, the current Liverpool squad and the England 1966 World Cup winners, a canvas signed by Steven Gerrard and a photo montage signed by current manager Kenny Dalglish raised £650 for Wolverhampton based charity Compton Hospice.

Wolves and England winger Matt Jarvis was the special guest at a football forum at the Cabin in Sedgley. Matt answered questions from the audience about his career and the current Wolves team. Matt signed autographs and posed for photographs with guests.

Continue reading »]]> Compton Hospice’s Big Quiz held at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill attracted 22 teams and raised £600 for the Wolverhampton based charity. Wolf Radio’s Dicky Dodd compered the evening and coming into the final round three teams were tied at the top of the leaderboard. After a tense last ten questions, the quiz was won by The Quintessentials with a score of 79 out of a possible 100, with the Last Chance Party coming second with 78 and One Foot In The Gravy finishing third with 77.

Simon Cater from Compton Hospice said, “The quiz was a great success and several people have asked if we can do it again.”

Continue reading »]]> Ronald McDonald House held their gala dinner at the ICC with Stavros Flatley and Tracy Cohen as the star performers in front of a packed house of 350 guests. The event raised £31,500 for the charity at the event hosted by BBC Radio WM presenter Phil Upton.

The silent auction organised by Route 39 raised £3,500 for the charity and included items signed by Bono, Steven Gerrard, Katy Perry, Wayne Rooney, Adele, Brian Clough, The Inbetweeners, Rory McIlroy, Olly Murs and the 1982 Aston Villa European Cup winning team.
